Tender Coconut Payasam

Tender Coconut Kheer is on menu today. I am telling you, it is one of the most delicious and simple kheer you could make.

Kheer, also known as payasam, is a popular sweet dish and type of wet pudding in the Indian subcontinent. It is typically made by boiling milk, sugar or jaggery, and rice, though rice may be substituted with one of the following: daals, bulgur wheat, millet,
tapioca, vermicelli, or sweet corn. It is commonly flavoured with desiccated coconut, cardamom, raisins, saffron, cashews, pistachios, almonds, or other dry fruits and nuts, and pseudograins have recently gained popularity. It is most commonly served as a dessert.

This is so easy to make using condensed milk and tender coconut. So refreshing during this hot summer days. This kheer is a cook version, i have another version of tender coconut kheer which is a no cook version. Will share it soon.

Where did payasam originate?

It is thought to have originated thousands of years ago in South
India. In the storey The Legend of the Chessboard," an old sage in
the form of Krishna challenged the king of Ambalapuzha (Chess
enthusiasts) to a game of chess.

Ingredients for Tender Coconut Kheer Recipe :

Tender Coconut Flesh :
Tender coconut flesh differs from mature coconuts, which are brown with hairy shells and have firm, opaque white flesh. Young coconut meat, on the other hand, can be eaten on its own, in salads, or in other dishes.

Sweetened Condensed Milk :
Sweetened condensed milk is cooked until it thickens and becomes a creamy caramel-like pudding that can be used in a variety of dessert recipes. It's delicious on its own, with ice cream, in coffee, or spread on apple slices.

Milk:
High-quality milk has a fairly bland flavour, a faint sweetness, little odour, and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. It acts as a thickener. Milk gives kheer its taste and flavour.

Cardamom Powder :
Cardamom powder provides a lovely aroma and flavour to the dish.

I made this and took to my mom's place, my sister loved it so much. She finished the whole thing in few minutes. This recipe is similar to my tender coconut pudding.

Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

Hi, this looks so delicious. I want to try it today. Just one question. You use only half of the coconut water to make the blended mix. When do you add the remain half to the kheer?
